Target Zero was conceived at a time when energy reduction targets were being set, but there was little practical guidance available to help practitioners achieve their aims. The steel construction sector has a long tradition of leading research programmes to develop knowledge that is provided freely for practitioners to apply, so we felt ideally placed to begin to fill the void. We accept there may be shortcomings in this initial research, but it has been done honestly using best available independent technical expertise and is presented openly to allow you to make interpretation as required. It is the first step in a long journey, which provides insight into the potential effectiveness of current options.
