The BCSA and Tata Steel admire the way that the construction sector has embraced the need for sustainable design and development. It is an evolving situation practice and we are impressed by the progress made so far. We have supported the drive for improvement in many ways including our delivery of the Target Zero guidance to enable informed decision making during the design of low and zero carbon buildings.
We now urge the construction industry to take another step forward and adopt full cradle-to-grave life cycle assessment as the proper way to assess the environmental impact of buildings and their constituent parts.
